About SAPS ZA
SAPS ZA (sapsza.com) is an independent, plain-language guide to the citizen services of the South African Police Service — the things ordinary people need SAPS for: police clearance certificates, reporting crime, finding a police station, the right number to call, and the official MySAPS app.
Why this site exists
Most SAPS content online is about recruitment — how to apply, what the requirements are, when intakes open. That's useful for applicants, but it leaves everyone else digging through forums and outdated posts for basic answers: Where do I get a police clearance? What's the number for anonymous tip-offs? Which station do I go to?
This site answers those questions in simple language, with the official sources named so you can verify anything important.
What we are (and aren't)
We are not part of the South African Police Service, the South African government, or any official body. We're an independent information site. Nothing here is legal advice, and for anything official — forms, announcements, station details — the authority is always saps.gov.za or your local police station.
How we write
Short sentences. No jargon. Concrete details — real numbers, real procedures — instead of vague generalities. If we can't verify a fact (a fee, a processing time, a form number), we say so rather than inventing one. If something changes, we update the page.
What you'll find here
- Police clearance certificates — how to apply at any police station, what to bring, and the scams to avoid.
- Reporting crime — 10111 for emergencies, 08600 10111 for anonymous tip-offs, and how to open a case at a station.
- Station finder help — the MySAPS app, the official station lists, and practical tips.
- Contact numbers — the numbers worth saving in your phone.
- MySAPS app — what it does and where to download it safely.
If you spot something outdated or wrong, let us know through the contact page. We'd rather fix it than leave it.
